All companies need to put themselves across to their customers in the best possible light, and this means not only providing quality products and good service, but also looking the part. From stationary and business cards to display imagery, posters and promotional brochures, image is everything, and without a good printer none of this is possible.
The ‘Angler’s Printer’
Sussex based Planet Prints are known within the world of angling for their fine art prints – high quality faithful reproductions of some beautiful and exceptional paintings – but the company also offers a full range of printing services, design and typesetting to the finished item. In short, where print is concerned, Planet Prints can do the whole job.
Managing Director Graham Jones says that although there are many printing companies around, angling-relates clients may prefer to choose Planet Prints for a number of reasons. Firstly, because Planet Prints are Printers and do the whole job themselves. This might sound a strange thing to say, but Graham explains: “Many of those who advertise print services are actually agents,” he says, “ they farm out work to other printers, and collect the commission. That is not how we work. We are printers, not agents, and we do it all inhouse.” Secondly, Planet Prints have a good name in the fishing trade as being honest and reliable. “Finally,” says Graham, “ being anglers and involved in the angling trade we have a good idea of what these kinds of businesses are looking for.”
We might add to that, the high quality of the printing, which speaks for itself.
Planet Prints Fine Art
Over the years, Planet Prints have published the prints of 6 different artists. They have worked with Chris Turnbull and Brian Miller in the past, and are currently representing David Miller. Miller is an internationally popular and well-represented artist, particularly in the genre of game fish painting. Prior to his involvement with Planet Prints Miller didn’t do carp pictures, becoming interested in the subject through the suggestions of Graham Jones. To date Miller has produced some of the most memorable paintings of carp in their environment.
The prints themselves are exceptional, and have been reproduced and sold in various formats, including Open Editions (no maximum number of copies), Limited Editions of up to 500 copies, and as Signed Editions (signed by the artist and printed on special paper using 8-colour technology rather than the usual 4-colour).
Planet Prints can supply trade outlets with these prints and the shops can achieve full mark-up on them. Currently their latest Miller reproduction "Three Kings" is exclusively sold through The Tackle Box in Dartford as a Signed Edition. Similar deals can be worked out, and shops who are interested in selling these items can obtain all the prints except the signed Edition of "Three Kings". Graham told us: “As an example, we currently have a deal with CC Noore & Co. With each bait oder they send out, they send out one of our leaflets. The Tackle Box is doing the same. We print the leaflet with their name and information, and our prints. It is good promotion and they can make a good mark up on any sales thay achieve. We can do this with anybody who sells angling products to the public.”
Gift Items
Tackle shops may also be interested in some of Planet Prints other items, which sell particularly well as gifts for anglers. These include things like keyrings and mugs.
Alternatively, these items can be printed with company names, images and logos, as more promotional material. For prices and further information contact Plant Prints on 01825 764707.
